Knitted Triangle Stitch — Easy 12-Row Repeat for Scarves, Blankets & More

The Knitted Triangle Stitch produces a charming repeated triangular texture that's elegant yet simple to work. This 12-row repeat is worked flat and is ideal for blankets, scarves, shawls or any project where you want a subtle geometric texture. The pattern is worked in multiples of 12 stitches and is easy to memorize once you've completed a repeat or two.

Notes: I used US size 8 needles and Premier Yarn Anti-Pill Everyday Worsted in Admiral Blue.

Instructions

Using straight needles, cast on in multiples of 12.

Work rows 1–12 and repeat for the length of your project. Right side (RS) and wrong side (WS) are noted where applicable.

Row 1 (Right Side): * K6, P1, K5 *

Row 2 (Wrong Side): * P4, K3, P5 *

Row 3: * K4, P5, K3 *

Row 4: * P2, K7, P3 *

Row 5: * K2, P9, K1 *

Row 6: * P12 *

Row 7: * P1, K11 *

Row 8: * K1, P9, K2 *

Row 9: * P3, K7, P2 *

Row 10: * K3, P5, K4 *

Row 11: * P5, K3, P4 *

Row 12: * P12 *

Repeat rows 1–12 for the pattern. For a neat edge, consider adding a border (for example, a few stitches of garter or seed stitch) before and after the patterned repeats. Make a small swatch first to check your tension and to see how the triangular texture appears at your gauge.
