Tiny hand-knitted hanging gift bag — a simple garter-stitch pouch ideal for small gifts.
Materials:
- Oddments of DK yarn
- 4 mm needles
- 2 small pieces of ribbon
- Small amount of braid
Worked in garter stitch (knit every row).
Instructions:
- Cast on 14 stitches.
- Knit every row until the piece measures 10 cm from the cast-on edge.
- Cast off.
- Fold the knitted rectangle in half with the cast-on and cast-off edges forming the top and bottom; join the side seams to create the pouch (use mattress stitch or a small whipstitch for a neat finish).
- Knot one end of a ribbon and, using a sewing needle, attach the ribbon ends 2 rows down from the top edge to form handles; knot the other end to secure.
- Attach a small braid or motif to decorate the bag as desired.
Finishing tips: Use contrasting ribbon or braid for a decorative accent. To create a small hanging loop, fold a length of ribbon or braid in half and stitch the ends securely into the top center of the bag. These pouches are ideal for quick gift presentation or as charming hanging decorations.
