Materials
- About 30 grams of DK yarn
- Oddments of fancy yarn (for the cast-on border)
- 4 mm needles
Instructions
1. Cast on 28 stitches.
2. Knit 3 rows in the fancy yarn to create a decorative top border.
3. Change to the DK yarn and continue in the pattern below.
Pattern rows (repeat these 4 rows):
Row 1: Knit all stitches.
Row 2: Knit all stitches.
Row 3: K1, P1 across to end.
Row 4: K1, P1 across to end.
Knit these 4 rows a total of 11 times.
4. Cast off.
5. Join the side and bottom seams to form the bag.
6. Using two strands of yarn held together, thread a cord through the top of the bag about four rows down from the cast-on edge. Cut the yarn and tie a bow to finish.
Notes
This project is worked flat and seamed. The decorative cast-on border (fancy yarn) gives a contrasting edge; adjust the number of repeat rows if you prefer a taller or shorter bag. The finished pouch is intended as a gift bag for a body spray or similar small item.
