Materials
- About 20 grams of DK yarn
- 4 mm knitting needles
- Card bookmarks measuring 15 cm x 4 cm (to use as a template and insert)
Instructions
Cast on 26 stitches.
Pattern (multiple of 4 stitches)
Row 1: k2, *p2, k2; repeat from * to end
Row 2: p2, *k2, p2; repeat from * to end
Row 3: repeat Row 2
Row 4: repeat Row 1
Knit these 4 rows in sequence until the piece measures 13 cm from the cast-on edge.
Knit 1 additional row, then cast off.
Finishing
Sew the bottom and one side seam to form a pocket that the card can slide into. Fold the top front corner over for a neat finish and sew in place if desired. Add a decorative button or small embellishment to the front corner for a personal touch.
Tips
- Block lightly if your yarn benefits from it to even out stitches.
- If you prefer a looser or tighter fit, adjust the number of cast-on stitches or needle size and re-test with your bookmark card.
- Use contrasting yarn for a border or add a small embroidered motif for a themed gift.
