Quick & Cute Knitted Barbie Skirt and Top — Easy DK Yarn Pattern

These knitted Barbie doll skirts and tops are a quick, beginner-friendly project perfect for using up oddments of double knit (DK) yarn. The simple shapes make it easy to customise fit and colour so your Barbie can have a fresh outfit in no time.

Materials:

  • Oddments of double knit yarn
  • 4 mm knitting needles

Quick & Cute Knitted Barbie Skirt and Top — Easy DK Yarn Pattern

Hand-knitted skirt and top for a Barbie doll — simple DK yarn outfit.

Skirt

  1. Cast on 30 stitches.
  2. Knit 3 rows.
  3. Work in stocking stitch (knit one row, purl next) until the work measures 7 cm.
  4. Next row: decrease 4 stitches evenly across the row (to shape the waist).
  5. Work 4 rows in K1, P1 rib.
  6. Cast off in rib.
  7. Sew up the back seam to finish the skirt.

Top

Make 2 pieces (front and back):

  1. Cast on 16 stitches.
  2. Work 3 rows in K1, P1 rib.
  3. Continue in stocking stitch until the piece measures 7 cm, ending on a knit row.
  4. Knit 3 further rows.
  5. Cast off.
  6. Sew up the sides, leaving gaps for the arm holes. Catch the shoulders together each side with a few stitches to join.

Fit the pieces to your doll as you go and adjust the number of rows or stitches slightly if you prefer a tighter or looser fit. Use matching or contrasting yarn for a personalised look.
