Cheerful Knitted "Summer Days" Tea Cosy — Easy DK Yarn Pattern

The Knitted Summer Days Tea Cosy is a cheerful, easy-to-make cover for a 1-cup teapot. It uses DK yarn and 3.75 mm needles, worked as two identical pieces that are joined with gaps left for the handle and spout. Thread a ribbon through the eyelet row and finish with a butterfly embellishment for a summery touch.

Cheerful Knitted "Summer Days" Tea Cosy — Easy DK Yarn Pattern

Finished tea cosy on a small teapot, threaded with ribbon and topped with a butterfly embellishment.

Materials:

  • 1 cup tea pot
  • Approx 25 grams Dk yarn
  • 3.75 mm needles
  • Ribbon or cord
  • Butterfly embellishment

Make two pieces:

Cast on 34 stitches.

Row 1: S1, p1, *k4, p4, repeat from * to end

Row 2: K4, * p4, k4,repeat from * to last 2 st, k2

Repeat these 2 rows 16 times.

Eyelet row

Next row: knit 1, * yfd, knit 2 tog to last stitch, knit 1

Knit 5 rows in garter stitch (every row knit).

Cast off.

Join sides, leaving a gap for the handle and spout. Thread ribbon through the eyelet holes and attach the butterfly embellishment as desired.
