Make Cute Knitted Finger Puppets — Easy DK (8ply) Pattern

Knitted finger puppets are a charming, quick-to-make project that bring tiny characters to life on your fingertips. They make great little toys, storytelling props, or handmade gifts. This simple DK (8ply) pattern uses basic stitches and takes only a short time from start to finish.

Materials

• DK (8ply) yarn
• 4mm needles

Pattern (one puppet)

1. Cast on 12 sts.
2. Knit 10 rows.
3. Work stocking stitch for 8 rows (1 row knit, 1 row purl).
4. Decrease: K2tog across the row — 6 sts remain.
5. Next row: P2tog across the row — 3 sts remain.
6. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail to use for sewing up.
7. Thread the tail onto a sewing needle and pass it through all 3 stitches; pull up tightly.
8. Sew up the seam and darn away ends.

Finishing

Using a length of contrasting yarn, embroider a small face onto the puppet.

To make a tuft: cut 3 lengths of yarn about 2" (5 cm) each. Thread them through a sewing needle and pull through a stitch at the top of the puppet. Tie in a knot and trim slightly if needed.

Tips

• Adjust colors and face details to create different characters.
