Instructions:

Part 1 – The Main Part of the Purse

Cast on 16 stitches.

Row 1: Knit all stitches.

Repeat row 1 until piece measures 16 inches from cast on edge.

Part 2 – Buttonhole Rows

Buttonhole row #1: knit 8 sts, yo, k2tog, knit the remaining stitches on the row.

Row 2: knit all sts.

Row 3: knit all sts.

Part 3 – The Strap

Bind off all stitches until 4 stitches remain.

Knit all stitches that remain on the row and repeat until strap is approximately 32 inches long (or desired strap length).

Fasten off and weave in any ends that remain.

Finishing:

With a piece of matching yarn, whip stitch the sides of the purse together to form the bag. Whip stitch the end of the strap to the top edge of the purse. Sew the large button to the front of the purse opposite the buttonhole to create the closure. Add accent buttons as “sprinkles” if desired. Weave in all ends.

Notes & Tips:

  • The piece is worked entirely in garter stitch (knit every row), which gives the purse its fluffy, textured look.
  • To make the purse sturdier, consider sewing a simple fabric lining inside before attaching buttons. If adding a lining, sew it in after assembling the knitted bag but before attaching the strap ends permanently.
  • Adjust strap length by knitting fewer or more rows for a shorter or longer handle.
  • For cleaning, spot-clean or follow the care instructions for your chosen yarn; test a small swatch first if unsure.

Enjoy making your Knitted Fluffy Cupcake Purse — it's a charming, colorful accessory and a fun little knitting project!
