Upcycled Scrap Yarn Ear Warmers — Quick Knitted Headband Pattern
Turn leftover DK yarn into a cozy, colorful ear warmer — a quick, sustainable knitting project that uses small scraps and basic ribbing. Worked flat, seamed and finished with a simple scrappy flower and button, these ear warmers are perfect for staying warm on chilly days and for using up odds-and-ends of yarn.

Materials:
- Size 4 mm needles
- Left over scraps of DK yarn
- Button
Cast on 90 stitches.
Work with scraps of yarn with each colour enough for at least 2 rows. Change colour randomly at the start of a row to create a scrappy, striped effect.
Pattern row
Row 1: k1, p1 repeat to end.
Repeat this row until piece measures approximately 11 cms.
Cast off.
Join seam to form the headband.
Flower
Cast on 60 stitches.
Work 4 rows in knit 2, purl 2 rib.
Next 2 rows: Knit 2 together across the row.
Leave a length of yarn threaded through the remaining stitches, pull tight to form a flower, and attach it with a button to the centre.
Notes: Adjust cast-on stitch count if you need a different width or fit. Securely sew the button and flower to ensure durability.
