Quick & Cozy Knitted Ganymede Cowl Pattern — Chunky Cowl with Mandala Yarn

Materials:

  • US 13 (9 mm) straight knitting needles
  • 3 cakes of Lion Brand Mandala Thick & Quick, each cake is 87 yards (I used the “Thumbprint” colorway)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure

Sizing:

  • Unseamed rectangle is 32 inches long and 14 inches wide
  • 22 inch circumference neck opening


Instructions:

CO 32 stitches.

Row 1: Knit all stitches.

Row 2: Purl all stitches.

Row 3: K1, *(yo, k2tog) across until 1 stitch remains, then K1.

Row 4: Knit all stitches.

Repeat rows 1-4, until piece is about 32 inches long (or desired length) from co edge, ending on row 2.

Finishing: Seam together using the whip stitch as shown in the photo diagram above. Weave in any ends that remain and you’re finished!

Notes: This pattern is a simple 4-row lace-and-stockinette repeat — adjust length to make a snug or slouchy cowl. When seaming, align the short edges carefully so the pattern matches; a loose whip stitch will preserve the stretch of the knitted fabric.
