Knitted Key Cozy

You need:

-fabric paint

-crochet hook

- straight needles 3 mm

(UK 11/US 2½)

- yarn for knitting needles 3mm


Abbreviations:

  • k – knit
  • p – purl
  • CO – cast on
  • BO – bind off
  • m1 – make one
  • ssk - slip, slip, knit
  • st st - stockinette stitch
  • k2tog - knit two together


Head:

CO 12 sts

Rows 1-7: st st, start with purl.

Row 8: (k2tog) to the end (6 sts)

Row 9: p

Cut long end of yarn, thread through sts, close with mattress stitch.


Frog’s eyes

Make two.

CO 6 sts:

Row 1: p

Row 2: k

Row 3: bind off

Cut long end of yarn, fold it in the middle and sew to the head.


Ears (cat, lion, pig, bear, chick’s beak)

Make two.

CO 3 sts using white yarn.

Rows 1-3: knit

Row 4: k2tog, k1(2 sts)

Row 6: knit

Row 7: k2tog (1 sts)

Cut long end of yarn, sew to the head.


Note

-Knit bunny’s ears longer;

-The clownfish's fin is made from two “ears” sewn together;

-Pig’s muzzle is made from wound crochet chain;

-Make mane to the lion and chick;

-Frog's head: the wrong side also could be right;

-Make a small pom-pom to the hat;

-Use fabric paints to decorate.

Cherry’s leaves

Make two.

CO 3 sts, using green color yarn

Row 1: k (3 sts)

Row 2: k1, m1, k2 (4 sts)

Row 3: k

Row 4: (k1, m1) X 4 (8 sts)

Row 5: k

Row 6: k1, (k1, m1) X 2, k2, (k1, m1) X 2, k1 (12 sts)

Rows 7-9: k (3 rows)

Row 10: k1, k2tog, ssk, k2, k2tog, ssk, k1 (8 sts)

Row 11: k (8 sts)

Row 12: (k2tog) X 4 (4 sts)

Row 13: (k2tog) x2 (2 sts)

Knit an I-cord long about 1 ½ inch. Cut long end of yarn.
