This oh-so-simple knitted tea cosy is a quick, beginner-friendly project that keeps your teapot warm and adds a handmade touch to your kitchen. Worked entirely in garter stitch with two colours, the cosy is designed to fit a 1-cup teapot and is finished with a decorative ribbon threaded through an eyelet row.

Knitted in garter stitch throughout.

Materials

• 1 cup teapot
• Approx 30 grams DK main colour, small amount of contrast
• 3.75 mm needles
• Ribbon or cord

Instructions

Knit 2 pieces:

Cast on 34 stitches in contrast colour.

Knit 6 rows in garter stitch (every row knit).

Change to main colour.

Knit 30 rows.

Change to contrast yarn.

Knit 2 rows.

Eyelet row

Next row: knit 1, * yfd, knit 2 tog to last stitch, knit 1

Knit 5 rows in garter stitch (every row knit).

Cast off.

Join sides, leaving gaps for the handle and spout. Thread ribbon through the eyelet holes to finish.
