DIY Knitted Small-Animal Cage Mat — Easy 20 × 22 cm Garter-Stitch Pattern

Hand-knitted garter-stitch cage mat, two-colour DK yarn, finished size 20 x 22 cm.

Cage mats are thick mats that provide comfort to small animals when in cages.

Size: 20 cms x 22 cms

Materials:

  • 5.5 mm needles
  • 2 colours DK yarn held together — total approx 40 grams

Knitted in garter stitch throughout (every row knit).

Pattern

  1. Cast on 34 stitches.
  2. Knit every row until the piece measures 22 cms from the cast-on edge.
  3. Cast off.
  4. Darn off ends.

Notes: The finished mat measures approximately 20 x 22 cm. To adjust the size to better fit a particular cage, cast on more or fewer stitches for a wider mat, or knit more or fewer centimetres for a longer or shorter mat. Ensure ends are securely darned in before use.
