Make a Charming Knitted Doll Skirt — Simple DK Yarn Pattern for 16–18 Inch Dolls

Follow the pattern and notes below, and be prepared to test-fit on your doll as needed since gauge and stitch tension can change the final size.

Materials and notes: I worked this in the round and used size 6 double-pointed needles with DK weight yarn. A small circular needle could be substituted. I am a rather tight knitter and do not have a gauge to share; I can't promise the skirt will fit every 16 to 18 inch doll exactly. Use the pattern as a starting point and test the fit on your own doll as you go — shorten or lengthen the repeat as needed.

Cable Cast on 132 Stitches, join in the round being careful not to twist, place marker.

Stitch Pattern:
Row 1: Purl one, Knit one around
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: Knit one, Purl one around
Row 4: Knit

Repeat these 4 rows once more

Next Row: Knit 2 together around to decrease and create ruffle.

Knit 2 together, Yarn Over, around.

Knit 1 Round,
Purl 1 Round, twice for 4 rows of garter stitch.

Repeat the stitch pattern described in rounds 1 through 4 until desired length.

Decrease row: Knit 2 together, knit 9 around, 60 stitches remaining.

Begin knit one purl one ribbing for 5 rounds, bind off in knit one purl one ribbing.

Tips: Try the skirt on the doll before completing all repeats so you can adjust length. If your doll is smaller or larger than expected, change needle size or add/remove repeats of the 4-row pattern to get the fit you want. A small circular needle can replace DPNs if preferred.
