Below you’ll find the materials list, notes, and the step-by-step instructions used by the original maker. The pattern uses Lion Brand Homespun (or approximately 185 yards of a bulky #5 yarn) and size 15 needles. Directions are written for a right-handed knitter.

What you need:
- 1 skein of Lion Brand Homespun
- (or ~185 yards of a bulky #5 yarn)
- Size 15 circular or straight needles
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Fun vintage pin
Notes:
- Directions are for a right-handed knitter.
- The ruffle is made at a width equal to 4× the number of stitches of the garment minus 3.
- Cast on 413 stitches; using circular needles is recommended for the length. If you don’t have long circulars you can hold some stitches on scrap yarn as the maker did.
Capelet:
Cast on 413. Do not join rows.
I don't have a pair of 15 circulars so I had to thread the first 200 stitches onto a scrap of yarn. It was difficult but after the first few rows it was less so.
