Red Heart Classic Multi 100% acrylic yarn worsted weight, color Watercolor 167 yds (153 m) /85 g - 1 skein (CC)

Needles: US 8 (5 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4") in 2-color pattern.

  • WS - wrong side
  • slwyfr - slip with yarn in front

Multiple of 6 plus 2

Row 1 (RS, MC): knit

Row 2 (WS, MC): *p 2, k4 - repeat from * across, end with p2

Row 3 (RS, CC): *sl2 with yarn in back, k2 - repeat from * across, end with sl2

Row 4 (WS, CC): *sl2 with yarn in front, k4 - repeat from * across, end with sl2

Repeat 4 rows.

The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: knit the first stitch and purl the last one in a row.

Short Overview of the Pattern:

Afghan is worked back and forth in 2-color pattern. To make it wider, just cast on more stitches: the 2-color pattern is multiple of 6 sts + 2 and +2 selvedge stitches. To make it longer, work more rows of 2-color pattern.

Cast on 82: 13 pattern repeats, +2 sts for symmetry, + 2 selvedge sts.

Row 1 (RS, MC): *knit till last st, p1

Row 2 (WS, MC): k1, (p2, k4) x 13 times, p3.

Row 3 (RS, CC): k1, (sl2wyb, k4) x 13 times, sl2wyfr, p1

Row 4 (WS, CC): k1, (sl2wyfr, k4) x 13 times, sl2wyb, p1

Repeat rows 1-4 21 more times, repeat rows 1-2 one more time to finish with MC yarn. Bind off.

Finishing:

Weave in all yarn ends. Block if desired.
