Cozy Knitted Triangle Scarf Pattern — Bubble-Stitch Tutorial
Wrap yourself in a cozy, handmade triangle scarf featuring a textured bubble stitch. This pattern uses undyed baby alpaca for a soft drape and a defined bubble motif that makes the scarf both warm and stylish. Suitable for knitters familiar with increases and basic shaping, the instructions below guide you through setup, repeats, texture sections and a garter-stitch border.

Materials:
- 200 g (440 yds / 400 meters) 100% undyed baby alpaca
- US #7 needles
- One stitch marker
Abbreviations:
- K = knit
- P = purl
- Sts = stitch(es)
- Kfb = knit front and back (increase)
- Pfb = purl front and back (increase)
Bubble Stitch (make a bubble): Knit the stitch front and back twice, then knit it one last time — you will have 5 stitches on the right needle. Turn work and purl all 5 sts, turn again and knit all 5 sts, then cast off 4 sts.
Pattern:
Cast on 10 stitches.
Set-up Row (WS): k2, p3, place marker for center, p3, k2.
Row 1 (RS; Increase): k2, kfb twice, k1, slip marker, kfb twice, k3. (4 sts increased)
Row 2 (WS): k2, purl to last 2 sts before the edge, slipping center marker as you come to it, k2.
Row 3 (Inc): k2, kfb, knit to 2 sts before the center marker, kfb, k1, slip marker, kfb, knit to 4 sts before the end, kfb, k3.
Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 22 rows.
Next row: Repeat Row 3.
Texture rows (start on WS): Knit across the entire row. Following row (RS): p2, pfb, purl to 2 sts before the center marker, pfb, p1, slip marker, pfb, purl to 2 sts before the end, pfb, p3.
Repeat the previous WS row once.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 16 rows.
Next row: Repeat Row 3.
Repeat the Texture rows section.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 8 rows.
Bubble Row (RS): Count the stitches on the first half of the scarf (do not include the first 2 sts and the stitch immediately before the center marker) and divide that number by 4. For example, if the count is 60, then 60/4 = 15. Work as follows: K2, kfb, *k14, make a bubble, k15, make a bubble, k15, make a bubble, k13, kfb*, k1, slip marker, kfb, repeat from * to *, k3.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 8 rows.
Repeat the Texture rows section again.
Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 21 rows.
Next row: Repeat Row 3.
Repeat the Texture rows section.
Repeat the bracketed section above as indicated, then repeat Row 2.
Border — Garter Stitch (WS):
First row: Knit across.
Second row: Repeat Row 3.
Repeat these two rows for a total of 15 rows.
Cast off.
Notes and tips: Keep an eye on your stitch count after increases and after each bubble row to ensure symmetry. The center stitch marker is important to maintain the triangular shape. Adjust the number of repeats to make the scarf larger or smaller if desired.
