Needles:

Not so important.
Size:
6~8” wide by 5~6’ long
Stitches and abbreviations used:
- CO ~ cast on
- K ~ knit
- P ~ purl
- YO ~ yarn over
Getting Started:
Hold 2 strands of yarn together as one unless you prefer a single-strand look. There are 2 sizes in this pattern: the first size is for the silk and handspun yarn combination; the second size (numbers in parentheses) is for the Heartland and Homespun yarns.
When working with the silk chiffon, it may separate at a seam. If that happens, knot it back together — the little ends can add character — or sew the seams for a neater finish.
Pattern:
Co 9 (12)
Row 1~ 3: K all. (9 (12) sts)
Row 4: (K1, yo twice) 3 (4) times, (K1, yo) 3 (4) times, K to end. (18 (24) loops around needle (sts and yos combined))
Row 5: K each st, drop each yarn over. (9 (12) sts)
Row 6 ~ 8: K all. (9 (12) sts)
Repeat rows 4 ~ 8 to desired length.
Bind off.
Weave in all ends.
Notes:
- Gauge is flexible—this pattern is designed to be forgiving.
- Experiment with color changes and yarn textures to emphasize the playful, gameboard-inspired look.
- If you prefer a tidier finish when using ribbon yarn, sew seams where the ribbon separates instead of knotting.
