Pretty Knitted Textured Lace Dishcloth — Easy Pattern with I‑Cord Loop
This knitted textured lace dishcloth combines simple lace eyelets with a crisp, practical cotton fabric—perfect for everyday use or as a small handmade gift. The finished cloth is approximately 10" square and includes a short i-cord loop for hanging. Materials
- 1 pair US 8 (5.0 mm) straight knitting needles
- 2 US 8 (5.0 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs)

Abbreviations
- CO = cast on
- K = knit
- yo = yarn over
- k2tog = knit two together
- i-cord = small knitted tube made on double pointed needles
Instructions
CO 50 sts.
Rows 1–4: K all sts.
Row 5: K4, *yo, k2tog; repeat from * until 4 sts remain, k4.
Repeat rows 1–4 once more. After completing the last repeat, leave 3 sts from the last row unworked and place these 3 sts on a stitch holder. Bind off the remaining sts and fasten off.
Slip the three held stitches onto a DPN and join the working yarn to continue. Using the DPNs, work 4 inches of i-cord, then fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle, sew the i-cord to the base of the dishcloth to create a hanging loop. Weave in any loose ends.
Tips
- Keep tension even on yo and k2tog rows to maintain a consistent lace pattern.
- Use mercerized cotton for good absorbency and durability; the 24/7 cotton recommended works well for dishcloths.
- Block gently if you prefer a neater square shape before attaching the i-cord.
