- Straight long needles - US13 / 9.00 mm
- Yarn - Super Bulky (6), about 6 oz. (I used Wool-ease Thick and Quick / Lion Brand)
- Buttons - 2 wooden 1-inch buttons (optional)

- Bind off (BO)

Size: Fits youth to adult — 18–22 inch head
Gauge: 4 x 4 = 9 sts
Pattern
Cast on 46 sts.
R 1–6: k2, p2 rib stitch.
(Remember: because we are stitching in rows, do the opposite p2, k2 every other row.)
R 7–38: knit every stitch (Garter stitch).
R 39: P *1st 3 sts, p tog the next 2 sts* — repeat from * to * across the row.
R 40: K all sts.
R 41: Repeat R 39.
R 42: Repeat R 40.
R 43: Repeat R 39.
R 44: Repeat R 40. BO.
Finishing
Fold hat in half, wrong side out, and sew closed along the side, then sew closed the opening at the top. Make a large pompom and attach to the top of the hat. Sew on your buttons if using them, weave in loose ends.
