Gauge
15 sts and 16 rnds = 4 inches in chart pattern on larger needles
Finished Measurements
Cowl measures approximately 16 inches tall and 33 inches in circumference
Abbreviations
- bor – beginning of rnd
- CO – Cast On

Notes
When working in fair isle, choose a method of working with two colors at once that works for you and use that same method throughout the entire piece.
If you want a larger or smaller cowl, you can add or subtract by multiples of 4. Note that if you make your cowl larger, you will need more yarn.
The Pattern
Using smaller needle, MC, and long tail cast on, CO 128 sts. Join to work in the rnd being careful not to twist. Place a sm to note bor.
Rnd 1: Purl
Rnd 2: Knit
Work last 2 rnds a total of 3 times.
Change to larger needles.
Join CC and begin working the chart below.
MC = dark blue on chart
CC = light grey on chart
Repeat chart until piece measures approximately 15 inches. End after working a rnd 3 or rnd 6.
Change to smaller needles.
Rnd 1: Knit
Rnd 2: Purl
Work last 2 rnds a total of 3 times.
Bind off all sts. (Don’t bind off too tightly.) Weave in tails and block lightly if necessary.
