Winter Hood Pattern

Needle: US size 11 (mm), or size needed to obtain gauge.

Yarn used: Lion Brand Hometown (super bulky (6); 100% acrylic; 64 yards/113 grams), 3 skeins of Memphis Blues. (This color is discontinued; I used yarn from my stash.)

Yardage: 192 yards.

Gauge: 2.5 sts/inch.

Other Notions: 4 buttons (about 1 inch (2.5 cm) diameter); yarn needle for finishing.

Final Measurements: about 24.5 inches (62 cm) across, 16.5 inches (42 cm) top to bottom.

Notes:

  1. This pattern is worked from the top down.
  2. Use the long-tail cast on method, or a similar method that leaves a tail.
  3. The m1 (make one) stitches can be done in either direction, whichever you prefer.
  4. I’m calling the bottom edge of the cowl part of the hood the “cuff,” even though it’s not quite a cuff like a sleeve or a sock would have. I just don’t have another name for it.
