- One set US #8/5mm needles
- Cable needle
- Stitch holder
- Tapestry needle
- 72 inches satin cording (omit this if knitting strap)
GAUGE
16 sts/22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
(Stockinette gauge included for yarn substitution purposes)
PATTERN NOTES
- C6B = Slip next 3 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work, k3, k3 from cable needle.
- C6F = Slip next 3 sts to cable needle and hold to front of work, k3, k3 from cable needle.
Cable Pattern (Worked over a multiple of 10 sts + 1):
Rows 1, 5 [RS]: P1, [k9, p1] to end.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 [WS]: [K1, p9] to last st, k1.
Row 3: P1, [C6B, k3, p1] to end.
Row 7: P1, [k3, C6F, p1] to end.
Repeat these 8 rows for Cable Pattern.

CO 21 sts.
Work 16 rows in Cable Pattern. Place sts on st holder and break yarn.
Body
CO 30 sts. Continuing from these sts, work sts from st holder in patt as set, then CO 30 sts at end of row. 81 sts.
Next Row [WS]: P30, work next 21 sts in patt as set, p to end.
Next Row [RS]: Work Row 3 of Cable Pattern over all sts.
Cont in patt as set until work measures at least 27 inches along side edge, ending with Row 8 of Cable Pattern.
Next Row [RS]: P1, [k3, BO 3 sts, k2 (3 sts on right needle after bound off sts), p1] to end.
Next Row [WS]: K1, [p3, CO 3 sts, p3, k1] to end.
