Naturelle 8/8 Denim [74% recycled cotton, 24% acrylic, 2% unknown fibers;

1680 yds per 2 b cone]; approximately 1000 yds used.

1 24-inch US#7/4.5mm circular needle

1 24 inch US #6/4 mm circular needle

crochet hook (approx. size G)

tapestry needle

GAUGE

18 sts/27.5 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch

Measure your gauge swatch before and after blocking. Cotton yarns shrink!

STITCH PATTERNS

Ribbon Eyelet (single YO)

Odd number of stitches

Row 1: (RS) Knit.

Row 2: Purl.

Rows 3 and 4: Knit.

Row 5: *K2tog, yo, rep. from * end k1.

Row 6: Knit.

Ribbon Eyelet (double YO or triple YO):

Same as the above pattern except for row 5, where the yarn is wrapped twice or three times, and on row 6, where the first YO is knitted and the subsequent wraps are dropped.

Elongated Stitch

Row 1: (RS) Knit.

Row 2: Purl.

Rows 3 and 4: Knit.

Row 5: *K1, double YO, rep. from* end k1.

Row 6: K the k sts and the first wrap of the YO, dropping the second wrap of

the YO

DIRECTIONS

Make two. Front and back are the same.

Note: Throughout the entire pattern, maintain the first and last stitch of each row as the edge stitches, knitting them on RS and purling on the WS. I won't be including them into the pattern directions.

Waistband

On #6 needle, CO 78 sts.

Rows 1 and 2: *K2, p2, repeat from * to end (except for edge stitches!)

Row 3: *K2tog, yo, p2tog, yo, rep. from *

Row 4-6: K2, p2

Main Body

Switch to the #7 needle.

Work in St st, inc 1 st at each end, right after the first edge stitch and right before the last edge stitch, every 7 rows 10 times.

On row 76, inc (only) 1 st = 99 sts.

Eyelet Section

Reset row counter back to 1.

Inc 1 st each end every 6 rows 11 times.

Work:

3 pattern repeats of the ribbon eyelet (single YO),

3 pattern repeats of the ribbon eyelet (double YO),

1 elongated stitch,

1 ribbon eyelet (double YO),

1 elongated stitch

1 ribbon eyelet (double YO)

1 ribbon eyelet (triple YO),

4 rows of garter stitch (knit every row). 70 rows and 121 sts.

This completes the skirt.

BO with the Picot Point cast off

K2, BO 1, k1, BO 1, *put st from RH needle to LH needle, knit on 2 new sts, k those 2, BO 1, k1, BO 1, (completes 1 picot point) k1, BO 1 (3 times), rep. from *.

FINISHING

Hand wash, dry flat and lightly steam the two pieces.

Neatly sew together, making sure that rows match on each side. Steam again.

Crochet a chain drawstring.

If you want, you can decorate your skirt with ribbons woven in and out of the eyelets. The example has a little embroidery for color and a pink string crocheted along with the yarn in the drawstring.
