Knitting materials and tools:

  •  DPN 4 mm (UK 8 or US 6)
  •  Lion Brand, Color Made Easy (5) – 100% acrylic

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:

  • k – knit
  • p – purl
  • p6tog – purl six together
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch


Fiore knit stitch instructions:

Cast on a multiple of 4 sts, plus 3 extra sts, plus 2 selvage stitches.

Row 1: sel s, * p3, k1 – repeat from * till the end, p3, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, *k3, p1– repeat from *, k3, sel s.

Row 3: Repeat Row 1.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2.

Row 5: sel s, *p3, count down 3 stitches starting from the stitch underneath the stitch on the needle. Insert the needle into the 3d st and draw up a loop (you are going to have a long loop), yarn over, insert the needle into the same st and draw up the second loop, yarn over, insert the needle into the same st and draw up the third loop, k1 – repeat from * till the end, p3, sel s.

Row 6: sel s, *k3, p6tog – repeat from *, k3, sel s.

Repeat Rows 1-6 to form pattern.
