  • About 80 yards any worsted craft cotton
  • Size 8 knitting needles

Size

  • Approximately 10 inches

Gauge

Gauge isn’t overwhelmingly crucial here as long as you like the fabric, drape and size of your cloth. If you want your cloth to be exactly the same as the one photographed, you’ll work in stitch pattern to a tension that achieves 16 sts for 24 rows to measure 4″.


Stitch Multiple

To increase or decrease this design (including the added selvedge on the sides), you’ll need any multiple of 4, plus 12.


Crochet Pattern Instructions

Cast on 36.

Rows 1-4: K across.

Row 5: K6, *yo, k4, rep from * to last 6 sts, yo, k6.

Row 6: K4, p2tog, *[k1, p1] into the yo of previous row, [p2tog] twice, rep from * to last 7 sts, [k1, p1] into the yo, p2tog, k4.

Row 7: K8, *yo, k4, rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Row 8: K6, p2tog, *[k1, p1] into the yo of previous row, [p2tog] twice, rep from * to last 9 sts, [k1, p1) into the yo, p2tog, k6.

Rep Rows 5-8 until cloth measures approximately 9.5 inches, ending with a row 6 of stitch pattern, rep rows 1-4, bind off in k, fasten off, weave in ends securely.
