Special Techniques
I-Cord BO
Prep: Using a Cable CO, CO 2 sts.
BO: * K2, ssk, rep from * across.
Tip: To add stretchiness, I went up 2 needle sizes to a US 10/6 mm.
Notes for Success with Firebrand
Slip all markers as they are encountered.
Mosaic sections are knit in stockinette to better see the mosaic stitch pattern.
Helpful tip: After knitting the set up row, place an interlocking marker on the RS, so you know when it’s facing you that you need to increase and when it’s not you just need to knit.
Before blocking, the shawl measured 67.5” across and 24.5” deep. I did not pin this shawl or do anything to stretch it, it just grew exponentially! I was careful when blocking to keep the depth at about the same because I didn’t want it to be longer. If you prefer how it fits after you BO and do not wish it to grow, then I recommend steaming.

Finishing
Weave in ends. Wet block to measurements—this blocking will open up the fabric and add considerable drape and length. Wait until it’s bone dry.
