Gauge:

21 stitches x 28 rounds = 10cm (4″) in stockinette stitch after blocking.

Supplies

To knit this headband you will need the following supplies:

  • Yarn: DK light worsted-weight yarn.
  • I used Drops Merino Extra Fine.
  • Knitting needles: 4mm (US 6) circular knitting needles with an 80cm/32″ long cord for the magic loop method or a set of double-pointed needles.
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors

Pattern

Cast on 50 stitches. Place a marker and join in the round being careful not to twist the stitches.

All rounds: Knit all stitches.

Knit until the piece measures 50cm (19.5”) or until you reach your desired length.

Bind off stitches. Cut the yarn leaving a 30cm (12″) tail, that will be used for seaming.

Twist

Lay the headband flat.

Since both sides are identical there is no right or wrong side.

Use a stitch marker to indicate the center of the bind-off edge. Fold the headband in half and line up the cast-on edge to the stitch marker.

Fold the left half of the bind-off edge towards you.

Next, fold the right half of the cast-on edge away from you.

Remove the stitch marker, thread the yarn tail through the tapestry needle and seam the layers together. Take your time and make sure to seam through all layers just under the bind-off and cast on stitches.

Finishing

Weave in all loose ends and turn the headband the right side out, wet-block.
