  • 55 yds for Ear Warmer and 125 yds for Scarf Ice (A)
  • 175 yds for Scarf Lilac (B)
  • 125 yds for Scarf Cotton Candy (C)
  • US 11/8 mm knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Row Counter (optional)

GAUGE

  • 8 sts in seed stitch = 4″
  • 13 rows in seed st = 4″

NOTES

Ear warmer pattern is written for 3 adult sizes: S (M, L). Highlight your size throughout the pattern for less confusion.

The ear warmer and scarf are made with the yarn held double stranded.

The ear warmer is worked back and forth in rows, folded, and seamed to create the front twist.

Scarf is worked in rows and the double strand colors are switched to create the gradual color changes.

PATTERN

Ear Warmer

Using the long tail CO and A held double, CO 7 sts

Row 1 (RS): seed st to last st, k1 (7 sts)

Row 2: seed st to last st, k1

Rows 3-61 (64, 67): seed st to last st, k1

BO as st presents, leaving a 12” tail to sew the ear warmer together.

FINISHING

Fold the ear warmer in half lengthwise.

2. Place together so they are sandwiched.

3. Sew through 4 thicknesses using a tapestry needles. Be careful not to break the yarn.

4. Flip RS out.

Secure and weave in all ends.

SCARF

Using the long tail CO and A held double, CO 17 sts

Row 1 (RS): seed st to last st, k1 (17 sts)

Row 2 (WS): seed st to last st, k1

Rows 3-56: seed st to last st, k1

Switch one strand to B,

Rows 57-84: seed st to last st, k1

Switch both strands to B,

Rows 85-140: seed st to last st, k1

Switch one strand to C,

Rows 141-168: seed st to last st, k1

Switch both strands to C,

Rows 169-224: seed st to last st, k1

BO as stitch presents.

Secure and weave in all ends.

FRINGE

Cut 17 strands of A, 34 strands of B, and 17 strands of C.

Working on beginning edge, take 1 strand of A and B each, and fold in half.

Insert strands into first st on CO creating a loop.

4. Take yarn ends and insert through loop and pull tight.

5. Rep Steps 2-4 across for 17 strands of fringe.

Rep Steps 2-5 on BO edge with 1 strand of B and C each.

Trim fringe to same length.
