Olive Merinowool Lana Grossa 160m/50gr, 3 mm double pointed needles (or whatever method you use for knitting in the round), yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS

This cap is worked in the round on double-pointed needles. It can be made in different sizes by varying the yarn and needle size, or pattern repeats.

The hat is double layered. Two hats are knitted separately and then joined together with the help of crab stitch.

The inner layer is started from ties. Cast on 4 stitches.

Row 1: K all sts

Row 2: P all sts

Repeat Rows 1-2 30 cm.

Hat:

Rnd 1: knit 20 st of first earflap (*K2,P2*), cast on 20 st, knit 20 st of second earflap (*K2, P2*), cast on 40 st . Join for knitting in the round and place marker. (=100 sts).

Rnd 2-13: *K2, P2* till the end of Rnd.

Rnd 14-32: K all stitches

Top decreases:

Round 1: *K8, K2tog*, repeat from* to* (90 sts rem)

Round 2: K all sts

Round 3: *K7, K2tog*, repeat from* to* (80 sts rem)

Round 4: K all sts

Round 5: *K6, K2tog*, repeat from* to* (70 sts rem)

Round 6: K all sts

Round 7: *K5, K2tog*, repeat from* to* (60 sts rem)

Round 8: K all sts

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail, and with blunt needle thread tail through remaining stitches, slipping stitches off the needles. Pull tight to gather hole closed, and sew to inside of hat. Weave in all ends.

The upper layer

Cast on 120 sts. Join for knitting in the round, being careful not to twist, and place marker.

Knit 40 Rnds according to chart. Knit 12 Rnds : *K2, P2*. Cast off all sts.

Finishing:

Close top seam. To join two hats together crochet one Rnd in sc or crab stitch all around hat. Make two pompons and sew them to the hat.
