Main Hat
Cast on 26 sts in Red
Knit 2 rows
Row 3: Knit Red
Row 4: Purl Red
Row 5 to 10: SS in Pink
Row 11 to 14: Knit in White to form the brim
Row15: Knit Red (as are all the following rows)
Row 16: Purl
Row 17: (K1 K2 tog) to end of row (18 sts)
Row18: Purl
Row 19: (K1 K2 tog) to end of row (12sts)
Row 20: Purl
Row 21: (K1 K2 tog) to end of row (8 sts)
Row 22: Purl (For the Elf, B & T here)
Row 23: (K1 K2tog) to end of row (6 sts)
Row 24: Purl
Row 25: K2tog x 3 (3 sts)
Row 26: P3 tog
Break of thread and slip through this stitch and sew up seam
BEARD
Cast on 6 sts in White
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Cast off 4 sts and knit into the front and the back (KFB) of the next stitch (3 sts)
Row 3: KFB of the next stitch, knit to end (4 sts)
Row 4: Knit to last stitch, KFB of next stitch (5 sts)
Rows 5 – 10: Knit 6 rows
Row 11: K2tog, knit to end (4 sts)
Row 12: Knit to last two sts, K2 tog (3 sts)
Row 13: K2tog, K1 (2 sts)
Row 14: Cast on 4 sts and knit to end (6 sts)
Cast off.
Making Up:Sew the beard level to brim of hat and put 2 eyes in black wool or googly eyes as per picture.
Add white bobble to hat if required.
Vary the colours and make an elf instead.
